STEPPING UP THE PACE FOR 2010..

Welcome..

Thanks for visiting my website. I hope you enjoy reading my racing adventures, or if you are just discovering bikes hopefully it acts as a motivator and doesn’t scare you off.

I am a NZ cyclist and I have been on the racing scene since I was 21. I’ve dabbled on the mountain bike, cyclocross arena and more recently the road. In 2007 I made the decision to switch to the road fully after 5 years of mountain bike racing at an elite level. So far I have had a blast racing the skinny wheels and experiencing the ‘dark side’. 2010 will see me focusing again on the road but there is also a possibility that I’ll be mixing it up with a bit more off road – I love the dirt too much to sell my soul completely…

This year I will be racing in NZ followed by Europe and then on to the States. It’s a big year with some major goals in mind and these should keep me motivated to pedal faster! I feel extremly lucky to have so many opportunities to see the world and meet so many great people along the way, especially since it has all come to fruition through cycling.

Riding and racing has taken me to some of the most incredible and remote areas in the world. I am quite sure I would have never seen half these places had it not been for the love affair that formed with bikes back in 1998. I have also formed some life long friendships along the way. To anyone reading this that is new to cycling, or wondering if they should give it a go, my advice would be to get out there..

QUEEN MARGARET COLLEGE OLD GIRLS' ASSEMBLY - Friday 6th June

A few weeks ago I was able to take part in the Queen Margaret College Old Girls' Assembly. The school holds this assembly to honour and acknowledge the girls that have already passed through the school, as well as commerating the girls that are still there, and it really is a special day to be part of for everyone.

TWIN PEAKS TOUR - MAY 2008 - A chill in the air and my legs were flying....

Looking back, if I had realised how hard this tour was going to be when I had entered, I may not have been so enthusiastic on the start line of stage one.
Twin Peaks is a one-day tour in the Manawatu, which consists of 3 stages that literally have you gasping for air all the way. You climb the Paihatua Track, Saddle Hill and then twice up Valley Road! Fortunately my legs were having an exceptionally good day, and for me, all pistons were firing...

WELLINGTON CENTRE ROAD CHAMPIONSHIPS - March 2008 - A solid ride to finish 5th

Around about 9 women including myself lined up for the Centre Championships. Again I was impressed at the numbers that just seem to keep growing and growing for women's cycling. To think that in another twenty years, there could be 50+ women racing at a national level is amazing, especially when you consider that the sport is still quite young.
