Gent-Wevelgem - 1st road race in 6 months and I felt it..

Posted on 01 April 2012

A bit of an average race for me at Gent-Wevelgem. I don't really know what I was expecting after such a long break from road racing (6 months!) and a bit high stress week in Edinburgh, but I would of preferred a top 50. I came in 4 minutes behind the winner Lizzie Armstead in a small chasing group that had been part of a mass chasing group - that strayed off the back. Lizzie Armstead is looking to be in very good form for the London Olympics - I think she has a serious chance at winning a medal in July.

Tomorrow we have Dottignes and then I drive down to France with my team manager and kiwi team mate Emma Crum to embark on French life for a few months. The french language is still a bit of an issue for me, so I've decided to go for the style of full immersion in the hope I can pick it up and be able to string conversations together by June. That'd would be cool indeed.

More to follow soon...
