EMBRACING FRANCE FOR 2012..

Welcome..

Thanks for visiting my website. I hope you enjoy reading my racing adventures, or if you are just discovering bikes hopefully it acts as a motivator and doesn’t scare you off.

I am a NZ cyclist and I have been on the racing scene since I was 21. I’ve dabbled on the mountain bike, road and more recently cyclocross. In 2007 I made the decision to switch to the road fully after 5 years of mountain bike racing at an elite level. So far I've had had a blast racing the skinny wheels and experiencing the ‘dark side’. 2012 will see me again focusing on the road with some cross riding as well as a little bit of mountain biking – I love the dirt too much to sell my soul completely…

This year I will be racing the whole season in Europe with my team base in France. It’s the most exciting opportunity I've had on the road to date and I can't wait to get started. I feel extremly lucky to be able to compete on the world stage and meet so many great people along the way - the best part is that it's all come into fruition because of bikes.

Riding and racing has taken me to some of the most incredible and remote areas on the planet. I am quite sure I would have never seen half these places had it not been for the love affair that formed with bikes back in 1998. I've also formed some life long friendships along the way. To anyone reading this that is new to cycling, or wondering if they should give it a go, my advice would be to get out there, don't be put off by all the lycra...

Recent Updates...

NZ road nationals and Cyclocross World Champs

It's been a bit of a rocky month in the health department which resulted in me withdrawing my entry from the NZ Road Championships. I was pretty upset not to race, but it would have been a pretty miserable experience with a sinus infection which has resulted in yet more antibiotics (grrr). I really hate taking them, it can't be good for the body in the long term at all. Maybe the manic schedule in December, plus the two days travelling to get to NZ did it, but either way it was RUBBISH.

New Sponsor for 2012: DMT Shoes

2012 is shaping up to be a great season with a new sponsor on board to carry me forward for a big year of road and cross racing.

DMT shoes have come on board to keep my feet race ready and in the zone. DMT are a brand built on three main factors ‘Design, Materials and Technological development’. With a massive passion for cycling, DMT are always striving to make the performance better for the athlete with shoes for all levels that can perform at the top of the game.

Namur World Cyclocross Cup - the hardest cross race I’ve ever done..

A few people have been asking me if I am disappointed with my result at Namur. I finished 37th and would of been 10 minutes down on the Vos Machine if they had let me through for my final lap. I think that's the most annoying thing. Seeing 37th, 1 lap down, but I wasn't actually lapped. The rule at world cups is that you must be within 20% of the leaders lap time and once you fall below it, you're out.
